Sunrise Beach Club and Villas
Paradise Island, Bahamas
Sometimes as travelers, we come across a hotel that perfectly fits us. It makes you feel relaxed and fulfills the picture you carried in your mind when dreaming about a stay in your desired destination.
This was absolutely the case at Sunrise Beach Club and Villas in the Bahamas. This lovely little villa hotel is located on Paradise Island which is a long thin island off the east coast of the larger Bahamian island of New Providence.
The club resort is located just a 10 Minute walk to the famous Atlantis Water Park, but far enough away for the resort and its beach to feel secluded among the lush tropical foliage.
If you have plans to tour the historic and cultural sites of New Providence and shop at the lively cruise port and capital city of Nassau, the club office will be happy to call you a taxi.

The hotel is an eclectic blend of European Villa Architecture and Island Cottages which blend together into a beautiful relaxing setting. Many of the cottages and villas have either single owners or time-share owners, so each accommodation is unique and special.
We chose to rent one of the two bedroom, two bath, villas and were pleased to find that the living space was spacious and beautifully decorated, with a full kitchen, dining area and a large balcony which overlooked a tropical garden through which a view of the ocean sparkled.
The resort has two wonderful pools with lots of lounge chairs and umbrella covered tables. One pool is separated into different fun configurations of depth including a shallow lounging area and a swimming grotto.
As I mentioned at top of this review, the aspect I loved most about this resort was the atmosphere. We met families from Europe and the U.S. who had been staying at the Sunrise Beach Club and Villas every year for decades and singles who were their to recharge from busy lives. These patrons come back every season and know all the staff and many of their fellow visitors.
The reason for this was easy to understand. The club layout is extremely kid-friendly as the pools, villas and cottages, and the bar/restaurant are all located within close proximity, making it very easy to find each other on the property.

The friendly open-air bar is a fun place to have a cocktail in the evening and we enjoyed alfresco dinners on the bar terrace after a couple busy days touring Nassau and New Providence. Conveniently, we also had delicious breakfasts there each morning.
The hotel sits atop a short cliff overlooking Sunrise Beach and a stairway winding through the cliff-hugging pines leads you down to the fabulous white sands and crystal clear water. The beach feels private and uncrowded and the swimming is spectacular, but for the more adventurous souls, local entrepreneurs are also on hand to provide a variety of fun ocean activities like tubing and jet-skiing.
Personally, I was perfectly happy to float in the beautiful aqua sea and on our last day, I got up early in the morning to take in the fabulous sunrise that gives the beach its name.
We loved the Sunrise Beach Club and Villas resort and would gladly join the many people who return year after year. This hotel has a charming family feeling to it that only adds to the lovely architecture, amenities and terrific location. It is truly a gem in the Bahamas.
