Marriott Gaylord Opryland Hotel - Nashville TN
Another Great Marriott Resort!
The Marriott, Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville. You Never Need to Leave the Hotel to have a great time!
If you are stopping in for just a night like Jim and I were or for a few days as we have done in the past, you can have a great time and never leave the Opryland Resort!
On this trip, Jim and I were stopping for a brief visit while on personal business to Nashville. Having stayed at the Opryland Resort before, we knew that the hotel was a beautiful, comfortable and convenient place to stay as we anticipated being tired and not really prepared to venture downtown into the nightlife of Nashville on this trip.
The Resort is beautiful; just walking into the lobby is a venture into an opulent and beautiful artistic space. It is enclosed under a huge dome which is large enough to enclose beautifully designed buildings containing shops, pubs and restaurants, pedestrian lanes, bridges, streams, palm trees and colorful tropical gardens with high waterfalls. It is a mini town enclosed within the resort property

We spent some time when we first arrived walking through the various areas of the resort, the “Delta Island Atrium”, the “Magnolia” exploring the shops, stopping at “Fuse” sports bar for a lunch snack of fattening but yummy nachos, and then back to the part of the resort where our room was located, the “Cascades Atrium”.
Our room was pretty, comfortable and very clean and the best feature of this room was the small balcony that overlooks the “Cascades Atrium”. After an afternoon nap recovering from our long drive, we ordered a bottle of wine from room service and sat leisurely sipping, enjoying our view of the waterfall and stream, quiet bars and restaurants nestled among the foliage and palms as slowly, the scene began to get busier with guests having drinks or strolling along the tiny lanes in search of their choice of restaurant.

We had decided upon the “Old Hickory” restaurant for diner that evening and finally headed off to the charming anti-bellum style mansion which housed the restaurant. Old Hickory is one of the more upscale restaurants in the resort and we were seated out on the patio area where the flickering candle light and crisp linen covered tables created a romantic and luxurious atmosphere. The service was excellent and the food absolutely wonderful.
I started with the Lobster Bisque which was creamy and delicate, followed by the Seared Salmon. I can still remember how delicious it was. Jim started with true French style escargots and then ordered one of the juicy steaks, seared to perfection and we complemented this amazing dinner with a wonderful bottle of the 2010, Napa Valley, Cabernet from Mount Veeder Winery. Its deep, rich flavor brought the perfect balance to our savory meal.
