In the Christmas Spirit at a Traditional British Christmas Market in Bath, England
One of my favorite Christmas Markets is the one that takes place in beautiful Bath, England, and held in the squares and streets surrounding the fabulous Bath Cathedral and ancient Roman Baths. We arrived at the very end of the day as the golden sunset darkened into night and the Christmas lights began to twinkle.
It is a distinctively British Christmas market and the festive stalls are filled with local crafts, Christmas ornaments, handmade wooden toys, candles, jewelry and winter accessories. More than 80% of the stallholders are businesses from Bath and the surrounding area. The local shops were also decked out in holiday style and filled with interesting items.

Other stalls lure you in with the sight of tasty cheeses and smells of warming mulled wine and freshly baked mince pies and lots of other hearty winter fare. I couldn’t pass up the mince pies and hot spiced wine! They were so yummy!
Be sure to check the schedule for the Christmas Concerts held in stunning nave of Bath Cathedral. The lovely music in this gorgeous setting really add to the Christmas spirit.
On my latest trip to Bath in the winter, they had added “The Lodge” and we ducked in to warm up with a bowl of soup and a glass of wine. Decorated like a ski lodge, it’s a fun winter addition to the market.
