We chose the small and charming Parc Beaux-Arts Hotel because it is situated in the heart of the old town in Luxembourg City, and the hotel is a beautifully and artistically restored historic residence where the architectural remains have been skillfully incorporated into each of its nine Suites and two Deluxe Suites.
The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is very small. In fact, the whole country is only 80 km (50 miles) from its north to south border. While Luxembourg has only been a sovereign nation since the 1830's, its history is far older.
It was settled by the Romans in 54 BC and fought over by European empires for centuries. The ancient lands now called France, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria took their turns ruling over or trying to conquer Luxembourg, giving it its unique and wonderful flavor and the historical and cultural sites of the city tell the tale of the tiny but powerful country.
Speaking of Alan, we were very impressed with his knowledge of the history and art of Luxembourg as he personally mapped out a walking tour for us and made suggestions for seeing the city sights and we appreciated his friendly attention during our entire stay. In fact, everyone on the staff was wonderful to us and even provided an electric fan for our room when we requested one.
So bring your ear-plugs if you plan to go to bed early on a holiday weekend, but our recommendation would be to enjoy your evening out at the wonderful restaurants and bars or sitting outside at a cafe table while listening to the bands that play in the gazebo on the square, and go to bed a little later. It is your vacation after all! Do some partying!
Head of Sales Stephanie Schmidt was kind enough to meet with us during our stay, and explained how each hotel was designed to provide a unique and specialized experience whether traveling for business or pleasure. The five hotels range from executive class and business conference hotels, to charming and economical hotels and of course, the Parc Beaux-Arts which is exclusive, artistic and historic.
