The Marriott, Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville. You Never Need to Leave the Hotel to have a great time!
If you are stopping in for just a night like Jim and I were or for a few days as we have done in the past, you can have a great time and never leave the Opryland Resort!
On this trip, Jim and I were stopping for a brief visit while on personal business to Nashville. Having stayed at the Opryland Resort before, we knew that the hotel was a beautiful, comfortable and convenient place to stay as we anticipated being tired and not really prepared to venture downtown into the nightlife of Nashville on this trip.
The Resort is beautiful; just walking into the lobby is a venture into an opulent and beautiful artistic space. It is enclosed under a huge dome which is large enough to enclose beautifully designed buildings containing shops, pubs and restaurants, pedestrian lanes, bridges, streams, palm trees and colorful tropical gardens with high waterfalls. It is a mini town enclosed within the resort property
Our room was pretty, comfortable and very clean and the best feature of this room was the small balcony that overlooks the “Cascades Atrium”. After an afternoon nap recovering from our long drive, we ordered a bottle of wine from room service and sat leisurely sipping, enjoying our view of the waterfall and stream, quiet bars and restaurants nestled among the foliage and palms as slowly, the scene began to get busier with guests having drinks or strolling along the tiny lanes in search of their choice of restaurant.
I started with the Lobster Bisque which was creamy and delicate, followed by the Seared Salmon. I can still remember how delicious it was. Jim started with true French style escargots and then ordered one of the juicy steaks, seared to perfection and we complemented this amazing dinner with a wonderful bottle of the 2010, Napa Valley, Cabernet from Mount Veeder Winery. Its deep, rich flavor brought the perfect balance to our savory meal.
days. We had time to play a round of golf on the wonderful resort golf course, had elegant martinis at “The Library”, and had a fun and lively time eating fish and chips with friends at Finlay’s Irish Pub.
The resort also has sparkling indoor and outdoor pools, a large fitness gym, and luxurious spa.
For those who want to venture out to the many music entertainment venues for which Nashville is famous like the Grand Ole Opry or to downtown Nashville, restaurants and bars, transportation is readily available. The Marriott Gaylord Opryland is definitely one of our favorite hotels in Nashville!
